The executive board of the Danish Design Centre has appointed architect, designer and associate director of Arup Nille Juul-Sørensen as the new managing director of the centre. Nille Juul-Sørensen takes up his position on 14 November 2011.

In connection with the appointment, Minister of Economic and Business Affairs Ole Sohn says,
- Design is a crucial source of innovation and part of the solution to the growth challenge we are facing. The Danish government is focused on creating good conditions for business to ensure that Danish companies can be competitive in the international markets. Here, Denmark is already known for our strong design traditions, and I see exciting possibilities in enabling us to become even better at taking advantage of the business opportunities in design. I am therefore looking forward to working with Nille Juul-Sørensen as the new managing director.

Jacob Holm, chairman of the executive board of the Danish Design Centre:
- With the appointment of Nille Juul-Sørensen the Danish Design Centre has gained an experienced and competent manager with a clear design profile and a wide international network. The Danish Design Centre needs this sort of profile to promote the use of design in business and industry and enhance the profile of Danish design around the world. Here it is crucial to have a finger on the pulse and concrete knowledge about what is in demand worldwide.

The new managing director of the Danish Design Centre, Nille Juul-Sørensen:
- I am excited to have been given this opportunity to head the Danish Design Centre. I will be bringing a lot of energy and ideas as well as a deep sense of humility toward the task that the Danish Design Centre will pursue in the future to the benefit of our society and with improved opportunities for influence for our skilled designers. Society is facing imposing challenges, and I believe that we at the Danish Design Centre can offer new perspectives and innovative ideas with good effects on a national as well as
an international level.
