CEO Christian Scherfig has resigned his position at the Danish Design Centre

CEO Christian Scherfig has resigned his position at the Danish Design Centre (DDC). Based on Christian Scherfig’s resignation and his desire to step down this year, the DDC board of directors has decided to release Christian Scherfig from his contract by the end of April.

”In light of Christian Scherfig’s own wishes, the best interests of the DDC and the leadership challenges that the centre now faces as a result of Mr Scherfig’s resignation, the board found it most appropriate to allow Mr Scherfig to step down now and to ask Design and Innovation Officer Merete Brunander to take over as temporary managing director. The board will now initiate a process to find a new managing director for the DDC as soon as possible,” says Chairman of the Board for the DDC Jacob Holm.

Christian Scherfig has held the position as CEO since 2005 and says, “I have now been with the DDC for around six years and have been in charge of securing a financial turnaround and of bringing the DDC through a crucial shift in strategy and the corresponding organisational changes. The DDC has also increased its productivity by more than 50% and is now in great shape, both financially and professionally. Thus I can now, in good conscience, move on to new challenges.”

Jacob Holm further states, “It is a natural step for Mr Scherfig to want to move on in his career. I fully respect Christian Scherfig’s decision, and the DDC has much to thank Mr Scherfig for.”
