CHALLENGE INNOVATION - designing great ideas into useful solutions

Exhibition 08.30.11 - 03.23.12
Lost in innovation? Not with design as the driving force. The exhibition Challenge Innovation illustrates how design can lead the way to successful innovation in the area of welfare solutions.

Welfare as we know it is under growing pressure, and we need to develop new, innovative solutions – but how do we create innovation that works? Welfare challenges are typically characterised by a high degree of complexity. Solving problems in complex systems requires challenging conventional approaches and adopting a holistic mindset. The designer has the necessary tools and the right mindset for creating innovative and holistic solutions.

Challenge Innovation examines the designer’s toolkit and offers an insight into the benefits of design thinking.

The exhibition revolves around the Innovation Space “Design Experience Lab”. In the Innovation Space, the Danish Design Centre addresses the issues of welfare design and discusses how a design-driven approach to innovation can lead to the development of better products and services. The Danish Design Centre’s guide to design-driven innovation (the DIN model) is rolled out and put to the test. The DIN model is targeted at organisations in the private and public sectors and can help guide any innovation project safely to its destination.

The Innovation Space is a living laboratory, where the Danish Design Centre also hosts seminars and workshops and offers courses on design-driven innovation.
