The jury has noted a high level of quality, which demonstrates that Danish companies and Danish designers work in a professional and target-oriented manner to create competitive solutions with an international potential. It is particularly admirable to see that every category features solutions that offer innovation and surprises.
Based on the entries received this year, we have divided the awards into four categories: Lifestyle, industrial design, corporate identity and graphic design, and digital solutions. Furthermore, as a new feature, we have nominated 19 solutions, and among these finalists the jury has then selected this year’s winners.
The jury has noted three general trends in this year’s submissions. It is a characteristic feature
of a number of this year’s solutions that they aim at hitting the market with an attractive price level. Furthermore, it has been clear that there continues to be an emphasis on creating sustainable solutions. And finally, a growing number of the submitted entries have been created in a partnership between a Danish company and designer from outside Denmark.
Each in in their way, the recipients of The Danish Design Prize 2010/11 have deserved the prestigious award because they have created innovative products and solutions of a high aesthetic and functional quality that also helps to highlight the value and stimulate the use of design. Based on their successful design, all the winners have a great potential for generating economic growth. With the many qualified entries to The Danish Design Prize, 2010 is clearly a good year for Danish design.
Warm congratulations to all eleven winners of The Danish Design Prize 2010/11.
