The perfect chair

Manufacturer Magnus Olesen has worked with Design Concern to create a beautiful chair with good ergonomics. The chair, i-SIT sets new standards for chairs for people of all ages.

CHALLENGE
One Dane in four suffers regularly from back pains, and this widespread ailment is estimated to cost society DKK 10 billion a year.

Wrong postures during work and relaxation cost the welfare state large sums. Many people would rather accept a disability than use furniture they regard as ugly. Can you make a chair that is both ergonomically correct and beautifully designed?

FINDINGS
With beautiful, functional furniture, many more people would be self-sufficient in their everyday lives despite a disability.

Today, aesthetics and quality of life have far greater importance than previously.

There is a lack of chairs that combine good design with good functionality without resembling the chairs usually made for the elderly. Such chairs are connected with illness and nursing homes and are not regarded as furniture suitable for a private home.

SOLUTION
With its Scandinavian and iconic idiom, the i-SIT chair meets the demands of both young and the elderly for aesthetic furniture. At the same time it has many ergonomic plus points: the width of the seat; the seating height; the infinitely variable setting of the back of the chair, which follows the hip’s fulcrum naturally; the integral lumber cushion and the adjustable neck cushion give good support for the user.
