CHALLENGE
Many businesses have difficulty establishing solid growth even though help is available.

How do you ensure that new businesses exploit their growth potential? The aim of public initiatives such as the Accelerator Programme is for its consultants to give advice to help businesses. But busy private businesses choose not to use the free service, as they regard this advisory service as a control function.

FINDINGS
Entrepreneurs were looking for trust, constructive sparring and faith in their business potential.

This makes great demands on the consultants if they are to supply the personal, tailored advice that the widely different businesses want.

Entrepreneurs with the greatest earning potential avoid going to the public sector for advice. They believe that public initiatives cannot contribute to their development and growth.

SOLUTION
Accelerator Programme consultants must give life to the dreams of the business owners. They must put themselves in the unique situation of the business owners and give them renewed faith if their projects seem bewildering at times. The solution was a catalogue of ideas with a number of suggestions for ways in which the Accelerator Programme can prepare its consultants for the task.

Identifying five personality types will help the consultants to better target their communication with the users. These personality types involve descriptions of a number of problems that the consultants will typically face. An ideal service process has also been developed.
