CHALLENGE
Problems related to overweight cost society DKK 14 billion a year through, e.g., hospital admissions and time off work because of illness.
The state of health in society is worsened by our sedentary lifestyle, with dire consequences for our quality of life and economy. How can the public sector promote physical activity in parks, schools, etc., despite tight budgets?
FINDINGS
Play can transform sedentary everyday activities in schools, at work and in our leisure time to physical activities indoors and outdoors.
Play can supplement or even replace traditional forms of learning.
Play can contribute to increased innovation, strengthen our competitiveness and generate growth.
SOLUTION
Playingmondo provides virtual play, games and social interaction via mobile phones in the form of learning games, physical challenges, team competitions and information activities. The virtual universe is anchored in reality and uses the physical objects found in urban and natural environments.
Playingmondo promotes the development of an active movement culture in the community. It can be integrated in and replace parts of the school curriculum. In this way it replaces sedentary indoor class teaching, and the number of active hours during a school day is increased without raising the number of sports lessons. At the same time it is economically more efficient than previous solutions.
